Pipeline cleaner
Product Description of Pipeline Cleaner
1、 Product Overview
A pipeline cleaner (also known as a filter or drain) is a device used to remove impurities, particulate matter, suspended solids, and other pollutants from pipeline systems. It is widely used in water treatment, HVAC, industrial circulating water systems, petrochemicals, and other fields. Its core function is to protect downstream equipment (such as water pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.) from impurity damage and ensure stable system operation.
2、 Working principle
Intercept impurities through physical filtering:
- When the medium (water, oil, gas, etc.) flows through the cleaner, impurities are trapped by the built-in filter screen or filter cartridge.
- The clean medium enters the subsequent pipeline through the outlet.
- After impurities accumulate to a certain extent, they can be discharged through manual or automatic drainage functions to maintain filtration efficiency.

3、 Structural composition
- Shell: Made of stainless steel, carbon steel or copper, with pressure and corrosion resistance.
- Filter element: Removable filter screen (pore size 10-200 mesh), filter basket or filter cartridge.
- Discharge outlet: used for regular cleaning of impurities, some models support automatic discharge.
- Connection method: flange, threaded or welded interface, suitable for different pipeline specifications.
- Pressure gauge/sight glass (optional): Monitor pressure difference or observe the accumulation of impurities.
4、 Product classification
- Manual cleaner: requires manual cleaning of the filter screen and sewage.
- Automatic backwash cleaner: Automatic backwash is controlled by pressure difference or timing.
- Y-shaped cleaner: compact structure, suitable for small flow pipelines.
- Basket cleaner: Large capacity, wide filtration area, suitable for large particle impurities.
- T-type cleaner: commonly used for main pipelines and capable of online sewage discharge.
5、 Application Fields
- HVAC system: protects the air conditioning chilled water and heating water circulation system.
- Industrial water treatment: Pre treatment stage filters sediment, rust, etc.
- Petrochemical industry: intercepting welding slag and debris in pipelines.
- Municipal engineering: Control of impurities in water supply pipelines and fire protection pipelines.
6、 Selection Guide
- Flow rate and diameter: match pipeline size (DN15-DN1000).
- Filtering accuracy: Select the mesh size of the filter screen based on the size of impurities (such as 20 mesh, 60 mesh).
- Working pressure: Conventional 0.6-2.5MPa, high-pressure type can reach 6.4MPa.
- Medium temperature: -20 ℃~300 ℃ (suitable for different materials).
- Discharge method: manual type is economical, and automatic type is suitable for unmanned scenarios.
7、 Installation and maintenance
- Installation location: It is recommended to install it at the front end of the inlet of equipment such as pumps and heat exchangers.
- Direction requirement: Pay attention to the consistency between the flow direction of the medium and the arrow markings.
- Maintenance cycle:
- Regularly check the pressure difference (cleaning is required when the pressure difference is ≥ 0.05MPa).
- Manual type discharges once a week, and the filter screen is cleaned or replaced quarterly.
8、 Precautions
When selecting, it is necessary to clarify the characteristics of the medium (corrosiveness, viscosity, etc.).
Regular maintenance can extend the lifespan of equipment and prevent system failures.
High pressure environments require the use of reinforced casings to ensure safety.
